Emily Xu is a Chinese artist based in Auckland. She holds MFA from China and BCA from MIT. Xu’s research is based on an investigation into the influence of Taoism philosophy on traditional Chinese arts, and how these might be translated within a contemporary art setting for a multicultural audience. Xu’s illustration and comics employ surrealist approaches to historical narratives.
